Everhart, Nancy. (2006) Principals' Evaluation of School Librarians: A Study of Strategic and Nonstrategic Evidence-based Approaches,School Libraries Worldwide. V. 12, n. 2. Principals have a range of strategic and nonstrategic approaches available to them that they could potentially employ to gather evidence to evaluate school librarians. This study surveyed principals on how frequently they used each of these possible/arms of evidence. Results show that principals are proactive, deliberate, and strategic in seeking the evidence they use to evaluate their school librarians.
American Association for School Librarians. (2009). AASL’s L4L Sample School Librarian Performance and Evaluation System The Learning4Life school librarian evaluation system parallels Charlotte Danielson's domains for teacher evaluation (Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching (1996, 2007)), but replaces her second domain with the Library Environment. Many of the elements and the components in this domain also parallel Danielson’s; however, when necessary, they have been adapted to the role of the school librarian when it differs from the teacher’s role. All elements represent principles of best practice in teaching and school librarianship. The Learning 4 Life performance and evaluation system is designed for both self-assessment and job performance evaluation.
